Friends since the age of 14, we have spent over 25 years in community development and non-profit work, starting in Africa and continuing in the U.S. We believe that self empowerment through self help is one of the most powerful tools anyone can have in their tool box. The passion we have for service to our community is longstanding and measurable. We believe there are enough resources out there, and look forward to partnering with other social and community leaders with the foresight to see that action needs to be taken to provide equity and equanimity for those who need it most.
Random Acts of Kindness Project (R.A.K.E.) was born out of a simple question based on our personal experiences of working hard, earning middle income salaries and coming upon hard times with no resources for assistance. What happens if a life circumstance puts us in a position where we need help? The bank? We definitely wouldn't have the collateral needed to get a loan. Government assistance? We wouldn't qualify. Our friends & family? In the same boat. We couldn't come up with any outlets for rapid assistance. We explored every possible option and ended up on the same road - nowhere. We decided to do something about it.
To offer support to middle income individuals and families experiencing a temporary financial setback, while also providing emergency relief funding, grants and charity advisement in project areas that we champion. What do we ask in return? That the random act of kindness given to you will be paid forward to someone else (you decide how). That is a request, not a requirement to receive our help.
