Many people have unexpected events occur in their lives with severe financial implications. We specifically target the middle class because they are so often lost in the shuffle when it comes to emergency relief. The only options available are generally taking loans, using credit, borrowing from friends/family and/or falling into a financial downward spiral which could include foreclosure or bankruptcy.
A requirement of receiving a grant from RAKE Project is that our grant recipients donate either their money,time or service to someone else that may be in a similar, unexpected life altering situation. You must fill out a volunteer application in addition to the grantee application. If that is agreed to, RAKE Project will give you money to help with your emergency need,and it’s not a loan, it doesn’t have to be paid back- instead you will pay it forward.
