About Us
RAKE Project was created because its founders fit into the category of the “working poor.” A question was posed amongst friends, “Who do we turn to if we are suddenly in an unexpected financial crisis?” “Where do we go?” No one had an answer. Aside from a bank loan, or going to friends and family, there was nothing in place to assist middle america if times got rough. No grants were offered to middle class people needing general relief due to suddenly losing a job, an unexpected illness, a divorce or other circumstances that cause financial woes. That just didn’t seem fair. Why couldn’t the recently divorced single mother of two recieve help just because she didn’t qualify for welfare? Why should she have to borrow a high interest loan? What about the middle class married couple who, due to the recent housing crash is barely making it and just need a boost of cash or a few bills paid to stabilize themselves?
